Dance dance happy time

April 29th, 2007

Hello.  We’ve been a bit all over the shop as of late, but should change.  Possibly.

Anyhoo, theres a new Pagetty Pol mix out today and DJ Boco’s Apache documentary is on the way (Royal Mail  permitting).

You can also find us on Facebook now, so if your on that, just do a search for Blueslims in the groups and we should (hopefully) pop.

Also, we have a live date coming up at UCCA Students’ Union on the 10th of May, with Boco and Carboardboss.

In no particular order

April 14th, 2007

in no particular order… what radio show can compete with the warm never ending introductions and stories of the legend John Peel so in no particular order here’s some quotes from radio’s favourate uncle…

1. I wish we could have more reggae, but many Jamaican artists had a habit of not turning up. Sugar Minot failed to show three times

2.Generally (I listen to) stuff I put in the programmes, I’m genuinely interested in new stuff, but sometimes I do go and have, like a Roy Orbison moment

3.I’m wary of buying on the internet, I bought something 10 weeks ago with an 8 week delivery time so I must see if I’ve actually paid for it.

4.Well, over the years we’ve had almost everybody, except the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, of the kind of big bands of the past. More recently Oasis, I never really thought Oasis were much good to be honest, so they didn’t do one. Whereas Blur did a couple of times.

5.Mark E. Smith. I’ve only met him a couple of times, so he’s hardly a friend.

6. And Captain Beefheart phones me about once a year

7. I first heard the White Stripes when we went to an event in Groningen in the Netherlands called Noorderslag…(half hour later as the song the track starts)….I think they’re missing out on something, you know

8. You have to bear in mind that sometimes when a band has thought of a clever name for itself, that’s the full extent of their imagination.

9. I quite like death metal because it’s just so extreme and so grotesquely tasteless

10. There was a track that even I drew the line at playing. It was quite a good track too but it was called “Kick the Pregnant”, and I thought, that’s a step too far.

 Such a gift for words
